I met my savings/emergency fund goal for the month of December thanks to a pay out at work for opting out of health insurance. I am hoping to meet my monthly savings goals, but I know life gets in the way sometimes. The ultimate savings goal is $100K, but this amount will assure me that I will have enough to cover a major home repair, purchase a car with cash and cover emergency expenses in the future. I'm getting closer to the half way mark.

I paid off two homes with one of those homes generating income. In the process of paying the houses off, I became cash poor. I am  steadedly building up the emergency fund and savings. I have no regrets getting rid of the mortgages; I sleep well at night in knowing that I can pay my living expenses on a minimum wage house. I am grateful for all the things I have and make it a point to pay it forward.
